Mission to Malawi

Posted by on Wednesday, November 22nd, 2017 in News

In the past missions there have been successes in Malawi, but the country is still in need.  We need to sponsor members from our congregation to go and give hope to those who are in a dire situation. This mission is coordinated by the PWS&D to help education development, hospital improvement, village health programs as well as HIV and AIDS programs to help inform people on the threat of this disease.
Please consider our fellow human beings and help us send people to go to them through donations. We need to raise $500 per member (for a total of possibly 3 members) by mid-March (which is the deadline for this mission) to be successful in sending our congregation members.
Please contact Peter Moyer, Bill Pettit, Jean Godin or Elaine McLean from the Mission and Outreach Committee for further details. For more information on the Mission, please consult presbyterian.ca/im/missiontrips/

Mission to Malawi

Posted by on Wednesday, November 15th, 2017 in News

The mission to Malawi is an important operation that can result in a lot of good in the way of the Holy Spirit. But we will need your help in sponsoring four of our congregation members who have applied to go and act. This mission is coordinated by Presbyterian World Service & Development (PWS&D) to help education development, hospital improvement, village health programs as well as HIV and AIDS programs to help inform people on the threat of this disease. The mission will be conducted from April 8-26, 2018 and the deadline to raise the necessary funds for our congregation’s team is mid-March at which point the fundraising period is concluded.
We need to raise $500 per member in this time so we can aid those in Malawi who are in need.  Please contact Peter Moyer, Bill Pettit, Jean Godin or Elaine McLean from the Mission and Outreach Committee for further details
(you can call the church office to be put in touch with any one of these people)

Remembrance Sunday at St. Andrew’s

Posted by on Thursday, November 2nd, 2017 in News

November 5 will be Remembrance Sunday at St. Andrew's Hespeler in 2017. This is always a very important and meaningful service as we take time to remember those who have served our country in the military, many of whom have been killed are wounded in mind or body down through the years.  This year, our worship will be made extra meaningful in a number of ways:

  •  Our new Women's Ensemble will be singing to God's glory for the very first time. This group will highlight the excellence of our Women's voices and specialize in music from the Folk genre. They will sing "Spirit, Open my Heart" to the tune of a traditional Irish Folk Melody.
  • Our Adult Choir will sing, "There Is Room for All."
  • Our minister, W. Scott McAndless, will be preaching on the challenge of finding peace in the modern world with a message called, "Peace, peace, when there is no peace," (a phrase borrowed from Jeremiah 6.)
  • And one big bonus for the day: you will set back your clocks on Saturday night so that you can have an extra hour's sleep the night before!

A very special worship service this weekend for so many reasons.

Posted by on Thursday, October 26th, 2017 in News

500 year ago, on the last day of October, a monk and university professor named Martin Luther set off a firestorm of change that spread through Europe. How did he do it? He did it by daring to post a bunch of radical ideas in a public place. He nailed the ideas (or theses) up to the door of a local church. We will make the five hundredth anniversary of these remarkable events in some very special ways at St. Andrew's Hespeler Presbyterian Church this Sunday.

  • We will celebrate the baptism of a beautiful infant named Clara. It will be a celebration of God's gift of newness to us.
  • We will enjoy some very special music from our Youth Band who will offer up "Now there is no male or female."
  • Our men's ensemble, Joyful Sound! will be singing "Higher Ground."
  • The sermon, which will attempt to gather together all the various threads of celebration of the day will have the following title:
